Ron and I have just spent one of the worst weeks in our 38 years of marriage. Trying to buy this RV and actually own it has been a battle. We have felt like we have had to make them sell us this beauty.
Have you ever heard of an auto or any kind of dealer dealing in licensing not having a notary. WE had to take the papers and to go a few miles to a notary. No one would believe that if we told you, but yesterday we did exactly that. This dealership is a 40 year old family run business. A large facility but in great need of an overhaul.
Arrangements were made for us to be at the dealership yesterday at 11:00 to transfer all of our things from our Coachman to the new one. We arrived on time, and they were just pulling the RV up to be washed. Hadn't changed the oil as they said they would, well actually had not done one thing yet. Inside was filthy. As far as we can tell, we were the only sale they had for the week , so no one could say they were busy.
Paperwork was not all there that we had been trying to get for over a week, but the good news is that Winnebago agreed to pay us to take the RV with the orange peel paint as is. Yeah for us. We already had a screaming deal and it just got better.
RV was finally ready to start transfer at 3:30. We stayed at their place of business last night and finished transferring after the store all locked up and when home.(was told they had water, power and sewer) well, the power part was correct.
Took us til 1:00 this morning to finish what we HAD to do. Will have to organize a little better later. Neither one of us slept but a couple hours and was up at 5:00. (we were still trying to get 2 forms that Washington State needs to let us register the new one) We also still didn't have our tow bar power replaced which was suppose to be done the day before. Service person had to go to lunch, or leave early, or had a doc appt, or was sick, or had to take his 2 days off, etc. etc. etc. Every person that was suppose to do something to get this RV ready was always going somewhere. We think our salesman may have been mad that we bought this as we didn't hear from him or see him after the sale. We couldn't take delivery Thursday because the person who does the walk through had his day off. (Only Bob does the walkthroughs for heaven sakes) Forget the customer would like to get out of LA on Thursday instead of battleing the LA Friday traffic - Not to be.
Our driver (you remember the one that has to drive our motorhome to Nevada so we don't pay California sales tax) arrives at 12:00. That was the highlight of the day as he was one time.
Well, we did leave on the drivers schedule with the (2) forms we needed being tracked down at 11:45 by us. Sitting in ones office til you get what you need does work.
Driver drove the rig, we drove the Miata and scheduled to meet at the border of Nevada at 5:00. Heavy traffic (but we were able to drive in the carpool lane and breezed right through) We stopped for lunch and spent a bunch of time trying to find a gas station and our average speed was probably 80 getting to Nevada. "The driver beat us there !!!!!!) He used about 30 gallons of gas to go 270 miles. Must have traveled 80+ mph. He towed his own heavy car and pedal to the metal. We left with a free tank of gas 75 gallons, and have arrived in Las Vegas with a half tank. So much for the free gas.
Well, we arrived at the border just about dusk and was dark before we got everything notorized and paid the driver. For Ron's first ever at driving something this big, he got to drive in heavy traffic all the way to Las Vegas. He did great.
We are absolutely exhausted and plan to veg out for a couple of days, and then finish up the little things on the RV then see a show and take in Las Vegas.
Going to bed !!!!!!!!
